Sheriff Candidate Statement – Keith Runk (R)

I am a 37-year law enforcement professional. I retired from the Maryland State Police in as the Assistant Commander of the Special Operations Division. I spent most of my career working jointly with Local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies and military branches coordinating responses to critical incidents. We were successful because we focused on the mission at hand and worked collaboratively to achieve success. I will continue this same effort with our communities as well, if elected as the next Sheriff.

I have met with members of 3P and toured your community to see exactly the challenges you are facing. I will work with you as well as our elected officials and State officials to help resolve the traffic safety issues and the improvement of all emergency services in your community. I will also collaborate with the other law enforcement agencies in the County to develop an enforcement strategy to assist in curtailing these traffic violations that are plaguing your community.

I will work with our elected officials and you to create a better quality of life and make our community safer. I support working with ICE and all law enforcement agencies and support 287(g). I will abide by all the laws I am sworn to uphold. We will improve community relations by developing interpersonal relationships in your neighborhoods and partnering with county and State resources to help you resolve criminal and non-criminal issues. We will enforce quality of life crimes that will help deter more serious crimes. We will actively work with allied law enforcement in the county to combat crime. I will work with our schools, our school safety director, and the county board of education to improve school safety, training and preparedness.

I am providing you with a choice that has not been there for you in a while. On June 23rd you have that opportunity to act upon your concerns. Let your voice be heard and vote Runk for Sheriff. For more information, please go to runkforsheriff.com
