Council District E Candidate Statement – Hunter Baker (D)

I am proud that 3P has chosen me as a recommended candidate, and I hope to be a friend to the community.

While the Perryman community is not within District “E”, as a former Perryman resident with family members still living there, I have ties to the area and understand the issues they face. What affects Aberdeen affects Perryman, and vice versa. We need to look out for each other.

Perryman is burdened with large warehouses, a power plant, poor infrastructure, and deep environmental injustice. It remains isolated from the county by long, unwalkable roads and few access points. Perryman has been neglected by the County, and I’ll do my share to advocate for its needs alongside the District “F” councilperson and other friends of the peninsula. It is time that we take community planning in Perryman more seriously.

I will support infrastructure improvements like sidewalks, streetlights, bus stops, and emergency facilities that would further connect Perryman to the rest of the county and uplift its residents.

Across the county, I will be advocating for green spaces to be protected and used for community purposes. In Perryman, this is no different, and there is a great opportunity to transform its green spaces into parks, improve its existing recreational spaces, open up its waterfront access, and celebrate its rich history.

Harford County becomes a better place to live for all of us when we work together, and we deserve better.
