I am all for owners property rights. However, I am opposed to the County putting these massive projects in the middle of communities with no regard to quality of life or public safety.
The Perryman Peninsula is a prime example. The County is trying to stick a massive freight depot on a light industrial zoned property. For far too long the County has ignored issues of the environment, public safety, emergency services and concerns of it citizens.
We need to take a hard look at our zoning codes to make sure they are defined and leave no room for loose interpretation. That way the citizens know what to expect when going to public hearings. We also want to make sure our zoning codes meet the needs of developers, our County and most importantly our Citizens; taking all issues into consideration as we move forward.
