After my recent visit to the Perryman Peninsula, I have a better understanding of the community concerns with the proposal to construct more than 5 million square feet of warehouses on rural farmland.

A facility of this size would generate an enormous increase in the amount of truck traffic on small rural roads that were not designed to accommodate commercial traffic of this volume.

This would create not only an inconvenience for residents in terms of traffic and noise, but also negatively impact the response time for emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, ambulances, and police.

This will also have a negative impact on the environmental footprint of the area in numerous ways.

I would be in support of a reevaluation of the interpretation of the zoning regulations that were used to grant approval to this project before any construction begins.

Indeed, Delegate Reilly; I remember Old Perryman, and this massive project is exactly what we don’t want to see. Thank you for supporting a reexamination of the zoning regulations in this area.
