Smart Development. An Oxymoron that is a Trojan Horse.

Timeo Danaos et Dona Ferentes – Latin phrase meaning beware of Greeks bearing gifts. These words were used by Virgil to describe the Trojan Horse given to the Trojans by the Greeks as a peaceful gift to apparently end the Trojan war. To their surprise it was filled with armed troops finally able to penetrate the Trojan walls.

An Oxymoron is a figure of speech in which contradictory terms appear in conjunction.

Smart Development gets you active farms zoned as light industrial.
Smart Development gets you active farms designated as Enterprise Zones with 20% tax incentives to build mega warehouses.
Smart Development gets you promises of new roads and road connections that never materialize.
Smart Development gets you traffic studies selected and paid for by the developers.
Smart Development gets you homes and senior housing that can’t meet unit selling promises and get shut down before they are finished but after the land is cleared and surfaces paved over.
Smart Development gets you empty warehouses and overflow storm water runoff.
Smart Development means politicians accepting money from developers looking at the woods and farms near you. They envision the future tax revenues from making route 543 and 152 look like route 24. They envision Route 7 looking like Route 40.

If you don’t want the remaining farms and woods on Route 7, Route 543 and Route 152 to be houses, buildings and warehouses. Beware of politicians bearing the words Smart Development.
